This Joy!

There is a song that we often sing in church and it reminds us that the joy that we seek is only through the will of our Father, the one who created the heavens and the earth. The song goes on to say, "the world didn't give it and the world can't take it away." I have found that to be a true statement during times of difficulty.

We tend to get caught up on the melody and not the words, but THIS JOY THAT I HAVE! Let me pause for just a moment and say that it took me a while to find this thing we call "joy". I've heard many preach on it, pray about it, sing about it, even testify that they have it, but that wasn't the case for me. You see I was merely living off of the joy or others and rejoicing when it had become a reality for them; it was not that way for me! For many years I sought after what I thought was a long lasting feeling of content and blissfulness, not knowing that those things were temporary and only provided a minimal high.

Oh! but when it finally became clear that the joy that I was seeking from individuals only came from the Christ that dwells within, life got better and brighter. I simply came to remind you that those things that you are seeking to find joy in, will never measure up to that thing that is found within. Intrinsic gratification will last much longer than external factors.
