Luke 22:42- saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
We’ve all been in a place where our feelings and emotions are on the line or as the cliché goes “on our sleeves”. You may experience feelings of doubt, discouragement, and maybe wanting to even throw in the towel! BUT GOD! I tell you what, that is the greatest conjunction ever! I have been in that place several times, and to be honest, yes here recently I felt those feelings. I had to take a moment and gather myself, and put MYSELF in remembrance of God’s word. The bible tells us to put God in remembrance of His own word, but sometimes we have to be reminded of His promises to us as well. By promises, I mean how he is a way maker, miracle worker, provider, refuge, strength in weakness, and the prince of peace to name a few.
In some of my darkest moments, I’m reminded of the time Jesus went away to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane. Prior to Him praying he was already grieved and His feelings were arising. The one thing that stuck out the most to me was His ability to open up his mouth and say something. Not just anything but he first acknowledged how he felt, and then high fived His feelings with His Faith! I’ve been taught that the kingdom of God is a sound-based kingdom and in order for God to come and see about you, you have to open up your mouth and say something! That’s exactly what Jesus did, despite how he felt. Jesus experienced more than any of us have or ever will, but he still had a NEVERTHELESS in His spirit.
That’s the same way we have to be as well, including myself. I had to get to the place where I had a nevertheless spirit and open up my mouth to get God’s attention! I started to declare and decree and speak those things that I wanted to come forth. I didn’t care how I would feel or what things looked like naturally, I knew once I opened my mouth, I invited God in my situation. So, I encourage you, that no matter what it looks like or how things feel, get you a nevertheless in your spirit and watch God work things out!
Remember it’s not your will, BUT HIS!
